Introduzione

WordPress (WP) è un Content Management System (CMS) Open Source, basato su PHP e MySQL. Esso è nato come sistema per la pubblicazione di Weblog (blog) publishing system, e si è evoluto in un CMS completo. Secondo me si tratta di uno dei sistemi più veloci ed intuitivi, tra quelli disponibili.

Attualmente (gen 2011) è il più usato tra i CMS per la costruzione di siti web.

Installazione

Breve riassunto delle istruzioni di installazione:

Scarica e scompatta l’archivio wordpress.
Crea un DB per wordpress
Rinomina il file wp-config-sample.php in wp-config.php; quindi inserisci i dettagli per la connessione al DB
Copia i files di wordpress nella direcrtory desderata, all’interno del Web Server
Esegui lo script di installazione accedendo alla pagina wp-admin/install.php

Plugins

La community di WordPress rende disponibili un buon numero di plugins. Questi sono i più utili secondo le mie esigenze:

WP Cumulus: mostra una nuvola di tag, con un animazione flash
WPML : WordPress Multilingual Plugin, per costruire siti multilingue
WP jQuery LightBox: un pluginn tipo LightBox, fatto con jQuery.
Syntax Higlighter evolved: per fare l’highlighting di porzioni di codice sorgente
Google Syntax Highlighter for WordPress: altro strumento per la syntax highlighting
